i think everyone against this is wrong..first of all, somebody said jesus wouldnt. and God didnt make us to "be like Jesus" or else He would've made billions of Jesus' in the world. second, the Bible states that on Jesus' second coming, in the clouds, He'd have "Lord of Lords, King of Kings" written on His thighs. God isn't going to write that there with a sharpie or anything, so it'll be some sort of body marking, aka: tattoo. third, if i get a tstto saying "fear God" as an example, im sure it won't scandalize anyone, and God won't be mad. if i am at peace with it, that's all that matters, because salvation is individual. obviously im not going to get a demon or anything scadalizing, because then i will be sinning, as the Bible says. so, i think it's your intention, and if you are at peace with yourself that matters. you might reach a soul with your tat, who knows?

The only reason a Christian should want a tattoo is to further witness to himself and/or others. (scripture or an encouraging image of something Christian? Correct??? Whether it is sin or not... legalistic or not... good or not.. foul or not.. It will not keep you or me from entering the gates to paradise and having eternity to worship our Father in heaven. The only advice that needs to be given to anyone concerning himself with getting a tattoo is: study all the scripture. GOD'S WORD to us!! pray over the action you are going to take, and receive God's answer. Also, there is absolutely no reason a Christian or any person on this earth needs a tattoo or piercing. We will all live without either. Search scripture and yourself, because no one that is talking in any of these comments can save you or me from the words, "Depart from me, I never knew you."

I think..who cares. Yes our bodies are our temples but when we die or when Jesus comes back he is taking our should and leaving our flesh behind. If he was taking our flesh then I wouldn't get a tattoo. Personally I think the the most thing us Christians should be worrying about is being a servant to God as he calls us..and reaching out to the people of this world who don't know him and not worry about how one person chooses to express themselves it's not that big of a deal. I have a cross on my neck that symbolizes that I carry my cross on a daily basis and it's a reminder that I don't judge others and that I'm here on earth to reach lives and that's what's we should write topics on.

wow this is an interesting convo...although before i say my piece i have to make a comment about paganism...if what your saying is the case then most of modern Christian tradition needs to be thrown out the window since it is highly influenced by paganism and even follows the pagan calendar...haven't you ever wondered why Christianity departs so much from Jewish traditions? anyway i just got my first tattoos after many years of prayerful discernment. while being a witness wasn't my primary motive it sure has been an obvious off-shoot. Personally i am a development worker and shortly i will be moving to Haiti. My decision to get tattoos stemmed from my calling to this field. there have been times when i have had nothing but the clothes on my back and in those moments of darkness i wanted something tangible to remind me of all the things i love. when i look at my wrists I see my 2 fav scriptures right before my eyes even when a bible is nowhere in sight. there is something about seeing His words written on my skin that can not be encapsulated by an argument. there is so much going on in the world and it pains me to see Christians bantering about things that are really between the individual and God. I've met Christians that abstain from all the "sinful" practices that don't reflect the love of Christ half as much as a fully tatted ex-con. The Word became flesh...incarnational living...focus on that not what other people put on their skin. God can do his own job of judging-he doesn't need your help.
